Pakistan's Senate passed a non-binding resolution seeking a delay in the upcoming polls due to security concerns and harsh weather. The resolution, moved by independent senator Dilawar Khan, referenced serious threats to the lives of prominent politicians conveyed by the interior ministry. Intelligence agencies have warned of terror attacks on poll rallies in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Balochistan provinces. The session was adjourned indefinitely by the Senate chairman following the vote. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Peoples Party abstained from voting.
